Getting your DNA tested is really simple process that will take around 3-5 weeks. Order your MUHDO testing kit online or from a Dis-Chem Wellness Clinic nurse (from September 2019). Your kit will contain instructions, your kit ID number and a saliva sample kit.
- Wait 30 minutes after eating, drinking or smoking. Rinse your mouth 3 times with water before you begin.
- Remove the swab (earbud-style swab) from its container by holding the plastic shaft.
- Insert the swab into your mounth and rub firmly against the inside of both cheeks for 30 seconds.
- Shake off any excess saliva.
- Break the swab’s plastic shaft in half by bending it at the mark (otherwise its too long to fit into the tube).
- Place the swab into the tube supplied
- Remove the capsule (stabilising capsule) from the foil wrapper and place in the tube, so that the capsule sits on the top of the swab shaft.
- Seal the tube securely with the cap provided. Fill out the ID number sticker and place it on the tube.
- Seal the DNA sample and give it back to the delivery agent/courier or Dis-Chem Clinic nurse.
- You will get SMS/email notifications throughout the process.
- Within 3-5 weeks your DNA results will be available online (You will also receive a notification).
